Slope stabilisation – sheet piling
Driving Larssen sheet piles, steel sheet piles, is an effective method of temporary and permanent reinforcement of slopes and excavations. It is used on linear construction projects, landslide remediation and excavations in built-up areas.

A reliable solution for slope instability
Ground and slope instability requires reliable technical solutions. With a sheet pile wall we secure an excavation, a slope or an excavation pit.
What sheet piles (Larssen sheet piles) are
Sheet piles, technically also called Larssen sheet piles or steel sheet pile walls, are specially shaped steel profiles. They are driven into the ground by hammering, pressing or vibrating so that they interlock precisely. In this way they form an impermeable and strong wall.
With MOVAX equipment we can also quickly and precisely drive posts or round timber. This is used in the construction of temporary supporting structures, fences and temporary footbridges.
Where we use sheet piles
A sheet pile wall works as both a temporary and a permanent supporting structure. The solution is also suitable for confined conditions.
Slopes beside roads and railways
We ensure the stability of slopes near transport corridors. We minimise the risk of landslides and protect infrastructure also during construction or reconstruction.
Utility trenches
When laying sewers, water mains or cable routes, we create both temporary and permanent supporting structures.
Excavation pits
In densely built-up areas, a Larssen sheet pile wall prevents landslips, reduces pressure on neighbouring buildings and ensures a safe working environment.
Landslide remediation
In emergencies and in risk areas, Larssen sheet piles are part of the remediation. Together with drainage and geotechnical measures, they help restore the stability of the land.
Retaining walls and dams
Larssen sheet pile profiles also serve as load-bearing elements of retaining walls and water-retaining structures. Quick installation and high load-bearing capacity are an advantage in terrain with heavy loading.

MOVAX pile drivers on our own excavators
| Equipment | Use | Carrier |
|---|---|---|
| MOVAX SG-50 | Vibratory pile driver 500 kN – smaller and medium-demand applications | Liebherr |
| MOVAX SG-60 | Vibratory pile driver 600 kN – universal use | Liebherr |
| MOVAX SG-75V | Vibratory pile driver 750 kN – large profiles and deep foundations | Liebherr |

Frequently asked questions
What are sheet piles used for?
For reinforcing slopes beside roads and railways, securing excavations for utilities, excavation pits in built-up areas, landslide remediation and as load-bearing elements of retaining walls and dams.
Is a sheet pile wall a temporary or a permanent solution?
Both. Sheet piles serve for the temporary securing of an excavation during construction as well as for the permanent reinforcement of a slope or retaining wall.
What equipment do you use to drive sheet piles?
We use MOVAX SG-50, SG-60 and SG-75V vibratory pile drivers and the MOVAX DH-25 hydraulic hammer for hydraulic driving in hard ground. The carriers are Liebherr crawler excavators.
Where have you carried out slope stabilisation?
We have carried out slope reinforcement in Slovakia, Czechia and Poland.
Need to secure a slope or an excavation?
Describe the location, scope and timing. We will get back to you.
